CFA vs FRM
📅 January 2026 🕐 7 min read 👤 Amit Alok, CFA & FRM

CFA vs FRM — Which Is Better for Your Career in India?

Both are globally respected finance certifications — but they open very different doors. The right choice depends entirely on where you want to go.

This is the single most common question we get from finance students and working professionals at Concepts 'n' Clarity. And it deserves a straight, honest answer — not a generic "both are good" non-answer.

Our faculty, Amit Alok, holds both the CFA charterholder designation and FRM certification. This guide is based on real-world career outcomes we have seen across 5,000+ students since 2012.

Can You Do Both?

Yes, and many serious finance professionals do. In fact, CFA + FRM together is becoming a preferred combination for senior risk and investment roles. Our own faculty holds both — it is absolutely achievable, typically done 2–3 years apart.

💡 Our honest recommendation: If you are unsure about your career direction, start with CFA Level 1. It gives you a broader foundation and keeps more doors open. You can always add FRM later.
